AO-16 Spans the AtlanticRadio Hams have been making contacts across the Atlantic using the Amateur Radio Satellite AO-16, which was recently reconfigured for voice operation. On the AMSAT Bulletin Board (AMSAT-BB) Robert G8ATE reports working CU2JX in the Azores followed by VE3NPC in Ottowa, Canada. He did that running just 5 watts to a 6 element Quad antenna. AO-16 is unusual in that it's uplink is FM but the downlink is SSB (more precisely DSB see link below) The uplink is 145.920 FM, and the downlink is 437.026 SSB +/- Doppler shift.
