New Amateur Radio auction website

A brand new online auction site dedicated to radio amateurs will be launched on 1st March 2008.

Unlike other auction sites on the Internet, this one has some Amateur Radio specific functionality in order to help enhance the user experience and cover fully the radio hams needs.

The site is the brainchild of Canvey Island, based ham, Justin Johnson G0KSC, Managing Director of Telco Consultants Limited. The company has already seen success with online business in the shape of A1isp ( www.a1isp.co.uk ) and now plans to extend it’s scope into Amateur Radio.

No basic user charges – Advertise for free

One if the issues of using online action services are the costs associated with listing and selling items. Hambid.com will be completely free to use for the foreseeable future with costs only being incurred when listing in premium areas of the site and for some options (bold type face for example). However, these options will be a fraction of the cost that users will be used to paying elsewhere on the Internet.

Flexible, easy to use Graphical User Interface and functionality

Like other online auctions, a user interface allows the user to list, buy and sell items in addition to be able to provide and receive feedback too. Payment methods such as Western Union and PayPal are also catered for within the set up and configuration on a per user base.

‘Wanted Ads’ & ‘Swap Shop’ feature

Two featured placed on this site for the Radio ham are the above mentioned. The User may place Wanted posts which can be browsed by other users from the front page. Also, (and close to many Radio Hams heart!) a ‘swap shop’ feature is available for items For Sale. If this option is selected, potential purchasers can offer the seller an item for exchange for their goods.

Commercial stores feature

Companies wishing to sell product can also do so. The facility will be offered to dealer free of charge for 1 year provided they place items for sale prior to the official launch date of 1 st March.

Many useful and proactive features exist within this ‘store’ portal including credit card gateway interfaces.

Target Markets

Hambid.com will primarily be focused on the USA and UK markets through the one site. Both Hambid.com and HamBid.co.uk have been purchased. Should the site become busy enough and users want it, HamBid.com will be US centric whilst HamBid.co.uk would become UK centric.
