1960 - Bathyscape Trieste dives to record depth 10,916 metres. 

1925 - Australia's first commercial radio station 2UE goes on air.

1924 - Victoria's first radio station 3AR begins transmitting.

1915
 - Bell opens the first US transcontinental telephone service.

1912
 - First Act to Regulate Radio Communication in the USA.

1911
 - First Monte Carlo Motor Rally begins.

1904
- The first military experiments with radio at the Eiffel Tower took place by French Army.

1788
 - First Fleet land at Port Jackson, to found Sydney and
hence Australia.

1878 - Turkish steamer is first ship sunk by torpedo from Russian ship.
