Manchester 2 metre FM repeater converts to D-STAR

GB3MI (145.7125 MHz) in Manchester (UK) is changing from Analogue FM operation to become a D-STAR repeater.

The RSGB Emerging Technology Co-ordination Committee (ETCC) website carries this report:

An analog internet-linked repeater at Manchester GB3MI is to convert to D-Star technology and become GB7MI on the same channel and with a similar coverage footprint.

The ETCC Proposals Manager welcomed this spectrum efficient move and thought it could encourage other Keepers keen to embrace digital technology to make similar swaps.
