Ofcom official receives OBE

Ofcom's Michael Goddard has been awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for 'service to technology' in the recent Queen's Honours List.

Mike is one the senior managers in the UK communications regulator, Ofcom. His responsibilities include the development of the UK’s overall spectrum allocation policy, with particular emphasis on the interface with government departments, and developing and representing the position of the UK as a whole in the relevant international fora.

He represents Ofcom in the UK’s principal official inter-governmental Spectrum Strategy Committee and chairs the three main subgroups on national and international spectrum planning.

Mike has over 35 years’ experience in spectrum planning nationally and internationally. He has led the UK delegation to all ITU Radio Conferences since 1987. He is currently vice-chairman of the European Union’s Radio Spectrum Policy Group.
