2008 Orlando HamCation
New Digital Age in Amateur Radio
The Central Florida Fairgrounds is the center of activities February
8, 9 and 10 (Friday, Saturday and Sunday), 2008 for people interested
in Amateur Radio and electronics.
Over 150 commercial vendors, 400 swap table vendors and participants
in the largest Tailgate Area in Florida show and sell amateur radios,
parts, computer hardware and software and other interesting items for
a growing group of radio and computer enthusiasts.
Special interest groups in the area of Ham Radio also have a place at
the Central Florida Fairgrounds.
The 2008 Orlando HamCation sm forums this year accommodate a number of
Ham Groups who will address various subjects of interest and other issues
important to today’s Radio Amateur. Organizations such as ARRL,
MARS, Florida Weak Signal Society and QCWA will have membership meetings
during HamCation sm.
The Orlando HamCation sm has its own Amateur radio station on the air
to serve the Ham radio community as a special event station, K4H.
Last year the Orlando HamCation sm welcomed nearly 10,000 visitors over
150 Commercial Exhibits and more than 400 Swap table vendors.
Also, the tailgate area around the buildings of the Central Florida Fairgrounds
was very populated.
The Orlando HamCation sm is a major Ham Radio event, this year acting
as the North Florida Section Convention host, and in previous years as
a Southeast Division and National Convention host. Visitors come from
all over the world to participate in this event.
