Some 2.3 GHz wireless camera PMSE could use 7.5 GHz

The UK regulator Ofcom has today published an independent report by Sagentia examining the potential to use SHF (3-30 GHz) and EHF (30-300 GHz) spectrum for wireless cameras for the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games and for programme makers in general.

Sagentia researched the applications of wireless cameras and explored the suitability of higher frequencies for each of these applications. They found that there is scope in principle for migrating a proportion of existing usage at 2.3GHz to higher frequencies.

Their analysis suggests that approximately one third of existing Outside Broadcast usage could be migrated from 2.3 GHz to higher frequencies such as 7.5 GHz.
