First GB7OK D-Star net held

The first D-STAR net took place on GB7OK on Wednesday, commencing at 8pm.

There where nine stations that called through in total, and as I had the dubious title of 'Net Controller' I have listed their callsigns below.

The hour that the net ran for was mainly spent discussing, after welcoming each other, audio and signal quality of the DSTAR and the fact that Justin, G0KSC, had just read that solar activity was on the increase, so radio conditions should start to improve.

I feel the event was a success, with distant contacts and new calls as well as the regulars, and am looking forward to the second one, same time and place, next Wednesday (14th January).

M3ZRJ, Ray from Edgeware (testing different microphones with his IC-E91), M0XLD, Paul mobile in Southend, G0KSC, Justin Canvey Island (getting ready for 10m and 6m openings!), G7AKM, Dave from Swanley (keeping us updated of the football scores), 2E0UMB, Mike portable in West Wickham (took time out of his M0 course to show others DSTAR and call through the box from his handheld), G7JRV, Phil in Pulborough, West Sussex (around 30~35 miles from the repeater, but needs a fraction more height on his antenna or better conditions as he was only just making the trip!!), M3GYI, Lionel from Morden (glad the emails enabled you to sort the 2820 and join us, (thanks relayed to Paul and Dave), M0DWW, Marc who came and joined me, (2E0ULA) in the Dartford area and had a couple of overs through the IC-E92.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all those who participated on Wednesday evening and to invite others to spread the word and join-in next week.
