1622 Papacy adopts 1 Jan as start of year instead of 25 March.

1830 World's first railway station, Mount Clare, Baltimore, Maryland USA.

1838 Samuel Morse publicly demonstrated his telegraph for the first time in Morristown, New Jersey.

1838 The first telegraph message was sent using Morse code.

1839 Louis Daguerre takes first photograph of the moon.

1878 1st telephone in OZ, McLean Bros., Melb, Office to Store.

1884 P.Nipkow, Berlin, patents his television system.

1897 J.C.Bose, India, demonstrates microwave transmissions, London.

1901 Commonwealth of Australia is proclaimed.

1902 N.Stubblefield, USA, demonstrates his wireless telephone.

1904 Marconi Co's CQD - Distress signal introduced. Replaced by SOS 1906.

1906 Fessenden transmits CW and voice between USA and Scotland.

1912 Curtis makes first flying boat flight, Hammondsport, New York.

1946 First EME moonbounce signal by radio amateur N4CBC 112MHz, 3000W.
