Interference from home gadgets hits radio telescope

The RF interference generated from an ever increasing number of home consumer devices is causing problem for a Radio Telescope in the middle of a protected RF quiet zone.

The Green Bank Observatory located in a West Virginia mountain valley detects very weak radio signals from remote galaxies. Like other radio telescopes around the world it has to have access to a radio-quiet environment to do any meaningful work.
