BBC Radio 4 - Jack Binns CQDThe Today show on BBC Radio 4 carried an item on the use of wireless to save the lives over over 1500 people a century ago today. It was aired at 07:25 on Friday January 23 and contained a recording of what the Jack Binns original CQD distress call might have sounded like. The show is available to listen on the web via the BBC web site. The Chelmsford Amateur Radio Society (CARS) are currently running a commemorative station GB0MWT (Marconi Wireless Telegraph) from the Marconi 2MT hut at the Sandford Mill radio museum in Chelmsford. The station will be active on the HF bands from the museum on Friday, Saturday and Sunday 23-25 January. A special QSL card will be issued for the occassion.
