Ross Hull Contest

Australia's Ross Hull Contest began on Thursday, 1 January and continues throughout the month.

The contest honours the late Ross A. Hull for his pioneering achievements in VHF and UHF operation.

The rules have undergone major changes and scoring now follows a similar pattern to the VHF-UHF Field Days.

The contest includes two main sections. One is for all traditional modes including CW and voice. The other is for stations using non-voice digital modes such as RTTY, PSK and WSJT.

The Ross Hull Contest is not a field day, but stations may operate from any location, or change locations during the contest.

Contacts made in the Summer Field Day can also be included in the Ross Hull Contest log. The only difference is that for the Field Day the repeat contact time limit is 3 hours, but for the Ross Hull Contest stations may be worked once per band per UTC day.

Further details are available in December's 'Amateur Radio' magazine and on the WIA web site.
