Anniversary contact with ISS planned

A contact with the International Space Station during a 9-day period commencing Jan 24 has been arranged subject to crew availability and a suitable orbit.

This by Australia's longest continually-licensed Amateur radio club, the Waverley Amateur Radio Society, who are about to celebrate the 90th anniversary of their founding on January 27th 1919.

To mark the event, they will be using the special event callsign VI 2 BV 90 over nine days from January 24th to February 1st 2009, and will operate HF using mainly SSB with some CW and also via the Paddington 2m and 70cm repeaters both directly and using the club's IRLP and Echolink nodes.

24 hour operation is anticipated, at least over the long weekend. The club welcomes contact from both VK and overseas amateurs and will issue a special QSL card to mark the event.

Much more detail on this event including the frequencies and operating schedule as well as other activities for the 90th anniversary year, will be found on the club's website at vk2bv.org
