Amateur radio station is all systems go!
The Isle of Man's Manx Radio reports that the Sea Terminal will become an amateur radio station today.
Enthusiasts from the Isle of Man Amateur Radio Society will be running a
station from 6am to 6pm with the call sign
'GD ZERO MAN' in order to help
raise funds for the RNLI SOS campaign.
They will transmit on 3.720 Mhz LSB and make contact with other Radio Hams
around the UK and further afield.
It follows the success of a similar initiative last year in which the
society broadcast from the five lifeboat stations around the Island.
Mike Dunning from the Society hopes people will come along to see what's
going on, find out more about amateur radio and of course help raise money
for the Lifeboats.
He says the hobby is a fascinating one which still has followers around the
world.
