Popular Summits speak to each other

On 27th December 2009, a group of radio amateurs from the Macclesfield & District Radio Society conducted an activation of The Cloud G/SP-015 with the specific aim of making a 'S2S' (summit-to-summit) contact with operators on Holtankollen LA/TM-049 - which has the nickname of 'The Norway Cloud'.

Participants involved were Greg Acton 2E0RXX, Tom Read M1EYP, Andy Moss M1BYH, Charles Wimpenny G0LVH and Roger Bell M0GMG.

Contact was successfully made on 40m SSB with Aage LA1ENA/P and Kjell LA1KHA/P.

The group also made many other contacts on 80m CW, 40m CW, 20m SSB, 17m SSB, 10m SSB and 2m FM, despite the hostile winter weather at the time.
