AMSAT-UK - UK Space Agency announcement

The UK Space Agency has announced that AMSAT-UK will be providing a set of FUNcube boards for the Agency's first satellite UKube-1.

These boards, developed by AMSAT-UK volunteers, will enable the UK Space Agency to meet its Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) educational objectives in addition to providing Radio Amateurs with a linear transponder for 435/145 MHz SSB and CW operation.

It is expected that UKube-1 will be launched at the end of 2011.

In addition to developing the FUNcube satellite boards AMSAT-UK volunteers have also developed the FUNcube SDR dongle, a low cost VHF/UHF Software Defined Radio that will enable schools to participate in both the FUNcube and UKube-1 satellite projects.
