Bomb threat shuts Cyprus radio & TV for three hours
Staff were evacuated from the premises of the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation on Monday after a bomb threat was phoned into the station.
According to an informed source a threat was phoned in twice to the main switchboard, firstly at 1020 UTC, then again just after 1100 UTC.
Few details are known about the actual threat, but dozens of police officers, fire and explosives experts cordoned off the sprawling complex, with TV and radio services forced off air. The studios were evacuated at 1135 UTC. After a search lasting three hours, police gave the all clear.
