Guide and Scout Amateur Radio Club open evening for Guiders
Inverclyde Now reports on an open evening for Brownie and Guide Leaders at the Greenock and District Scout and Guides Amateur Radio Club.
The report says:
Greenock and District Scout and Guides Amateur Radio Club invite Brownie and Guide leaders to an open evening in Scout Headquarters, Finnart Street on Friday 10 February at 7 o’clock.
During this evening Guide leader and amateur radio operator Eunice Lynch MM3UVL, along with other club members, will be on hand to demonstrate how they can help your unit complete the activities necessary for the Guide and Brownie communicator badges. This is only a small part of how the club can enhance the experience of young people at all levels in the organisation. For example those undertaking the Duke of Edinburgh Award may wish to consider amateur radio as an activity which would be ideal for the “Learning a new skill” section. Several Senior Section members in the division, with the help of the club, have already achieved their own Amateur Radio Licence while learning this new skill.
The club can also provide fun activities for the Rainbow section such as learning Morse code, sending messages and games using walkie-talkie radios.
If you wish to attend, register an interest with either Bob or George on the club’s email: mm0tsg@yahoo.com by 3 February. For more information on club activities and badge work visit the website where a calendar of events is regularly updated. The club may also be followed on Twitter @mm0tsg
