G6XN callsign allocated to Wey Valley ARG

The Wey Valley Amateur Radio Group has been allocated the call sign of one of the area’s most famous hams by Ofcom.

The group now operates the G6XN call sign used by the late Les Moxon, a revered antenna experimenter and regular columnist with RadCom magazine.

The allocation of his call sign to the Wey Valley club was supported by Les’s wife Nancy and son David. “The transfer of my late father’s callsign to the Wey Valley Amateur Radio Group is a move I personally support, ensuring as it does an ongoing and lasting reminder of my father’s contribution to amateur radio over so many years,” said David Moxon.

A spokesman for the Wey Valley club said: “It will be a privilege to sustain his memory and recall his many achievements in the field of radio in this very practical way.”
