Raynet called out after firearms incident

Lancashire Raynet was called out by Lancashire Emergency Planning at 1855 on Monday 4 July to attend a Rest Centre in Rawtenstall.

Lancs County Controller, Chas Warr, G0AWM, immediately alerted the Rossendale Raynet Group Controller, Iain Groom, G0FCA, whereupon a team was despatched.

The police had cordoned off an area because of an incident with a shotgun. As people returned home from work, they were unable to gain access to their homes and were directed to the Rest Centre. Social Services then found them accommodation for the night.

Part way through the evening, with a possibility that the situation may progress overnight, Central Lancs Raynet was put on standby.

Later, around 2000, Lancashire Emergency Planning decided that the Rest Centre could be closed for the night and Raynet was stood down
