Calling all radio amateurs
Transmission 2005

Each year the British Wireless for the Blind Fund holds an annual competition for radio amateurs in order to raise funds for the work of the charity.

Called ‘Transmission' it is held over a weekend in September. This year, ‘Transmission 2005' will be held on September 24th and 25th.

Any radio amateur who would like to take part will be raising much-needed funds for this very worthwhile charity.

The idea is that amateurs ask their friends, family, workmates - anyone in fact - to sponsor them for contacts made over the 48-hour stint. Last year for the first time we introduced special trophies. These were awarded to the individuals and clubs/groups who made the most contacts or raised the greatest amount of money for the charity. The same categories will apply in 2005.

Certificates will be sent to all individuals and groups/clubs who either raise more than £10 for BWBF or who make a donation of at least £10 to BWBF. In order to qualify for one of the trophies amateurs must be a current member of the RSGB and resident in the UK. However, overseas amateurs and non-members of the Society are also invited to join in the fun and raise funds for BWBF (they simply do not qualify for the trophies, although they are eligible for the certificates).

You can start to get ready for 2005 now. You can read the competition rules here and download a sponsorship form: these are in Microsoft Word format (rich text) and you can print it out as often as you like.

To ensure you are eligible for the trophies, please register with us - transmission@blind.org.uk. We'll send you any updates and of course the free QSL cards as soon as they are available. Don't forget to include your postal address in the email.

STOP PRESS!

Our popular free QSL cards are becoming collectors' items! They'll be back soon for those who register with us for Transmission 2005!
