"ATHENS 2004 OLYMPIC GAMES" Awards

The award is issued to radio amateurs or listeners who have confirmed contacts with different Greek stations during the period of 15 May till 30 of September 2004.

Special prefixes J4, SX, SY will count for 10 points,
SV prefixes count for 5 points, R.A.A.G.’s club station SZ1SV or SX1O counts for 50 points. Club station SZ1SV or SX1O can be worked on more than one band to give an extra 50 points per band.

RULES

The Award is given for contacts made on CW, SSB, RTTY, or Mixed Mode.

REQUIREMENTS

The Award includes three categories:

1st Gold:
Contacts with Greek stations collecting 500 points. The diploma bears the picture of the relief base of a Kouros statue showing a game, the ancestor of hockey, 510 B.C.

2nd Silver:
Contacts with Greek stations collecting 350 points. The diploma bears the picture of the relief base of a Kouros statue showing wrestlers, 510 B.C

3d Bronze:
Contacts with Greek stations collecting 250 points. The diploma bears the picture of the relief base of a Kouros statue showing runners, 510 B.C

GCR list with all QSO information is required and the Award Manager of the national society (an IARU member) or two licensed radio amateurs must certify it.

Diploma cost for all categories is 10 IRCs or 10 Euro.

SV, GREEK OLYMPIC GAMES CELEBRATION PROGRAMS

2004 OLYMPIC GAMES "Countdown on the air program"
A special and interesting "countdown on the air" program will be active from many Greek radio amateurs on last 99 days until 13 Aug 2004 the starting day of the OLYMPIC GAMES 2004.

Nine (9) Multi operators special Event Stations as SX9A, SX8A, SX7A, SX6A, SX5A, SX4A, SX3A, SX2A and SX1A from the nine (9) Greek regions, will be active on 6 May 2004 until 12 Aug 2004.

These stations will be on the air every 10 days one by one, to celebrate the 2004 OLYMPIC GAMES in Athens (Greece) in all bands and modes and the signing the rest of days with the countdown method after the special calls. Some Greek radio clubs prepare a lot of DX-awards and events for this program. All the contacts will be reply with a special QSL card via bureau. There is NOT any QSL manager. OLYMPIC PREFIXES FOR GREEK and FOREIGN HAMs.
The Greek Communications Authority has announced that Greek radio amateurs may use the optional SX2004 or SY2004 call sign prefix from 1 June 2004 until 15 November 2004 to commemorate the Athens Olympic Games and Paralympic Games 2004. QSL via operator's instructions.

Also the foreigner radio amateurs, as visitors in Greece, from CEPT countries or from countries with reciprocity (U.S.A., Canada , Cyprus , Switzerland and Australia) can use the special prefix J42004 from 1 Aug 2004 until 15 November 2004 without any license from Greek Authorities. All the others needs to communicate with Greek Authorities for special permission. QSL via operator's instructions.
