Horkheimer prize awarded to Dr Walter Schlink, DL3OAP

Dr. Walter Schlink, DL3OAP, was honoured with this year's Horkheimer Prize given by the Deutscher Amateur Radio Club (DARC).

Walter receives the prize for his efforts and ideas for a scientific research project in order to measure relevant limits of electromagnetic fields for pacemakers.

The existing limits, which would have been very harmful to ham radio operation, were measured for relevant modes and could therefore be raised to a value that German hams can live with now.

Dipl.-Phys. Thilo Kootz, DL9KCE, said that "without Walter there would be no ham radio operation on the upper HF bands in Germany any more."

Walter donated the prize money to the DARC HQ for buying additional measurement equipment that can help saving amateur radio operation.
