Framed QSL PresentationThe Cambridgeshire Repeater Group and Icom UK have formed a close working relationship over the past twelve months. The CRG were one of the first groups in the UK to commission a D-Star repeater – GB7PI at Barkway, Hertfordshire - which is also still the home of the UK’s first analogue voice repeater, GB3PI. In April, the social side of the CRG – The Camb-Hams – mounted a DXpedition to the Isle of Mull (IOTA: EU-008) for which Icom provided a large amount of equipment, including an IC756ProIII for the base station; an IC7000 for data modes; and an IC703 for QRP/SOTA and Portable IOTA operations.
As a gesture of thanks, CRG members Daryl Burchell, G0ANV, Rob Warner, G1SAA and Gavin Nesbitt, M1BXF presented a framed QSL card from the DXpedition to Icom UK Dealer Manager John Turner, at an Icom D-Star dinner held at HamRadio Friedrichshafen in June. CRG Technical Coordinator, Gavin Nesbitt said “The links that have been forged between the CRG and Icom have been absolutely fantastic. We have been able to provide valuable technical feedback, and in return have received excellent technical support and advice." "The loan of some of the best HF equipment on the market for our DXpedition really helped to ensure that the trip was a success, and we are extremely grateful to Icom for their generous support. We lost our HF amp early on in the trip, yet the IC756ProIII still produced a massive signal across all the HF bands – to be honest we needn’t have bothered taking the amp at all.” You can find out more at www.camb-hams.com, www.icomuk.co.uk and www.cambridgerepeaters.net
