KiwiSAT status report

Fred Kennedy ZL1BYP has published a progress report on the KiwiSAT Amateur Radio Satellite being built in New Zealand.

One highlight of the report is that the problem of acquiring sufficient Solar Cells at a reasonable price has been resolved.

David G0MRF spotted some 'substandard satellite gallium arsenide cells' on eBay and told the KiwiSAT team. With the help of Reinhold Bauer and Bill N6GHZ they were able to acquire the solar cells.

The report with pictures can be seen at http://www.kiwisat.org.nz/status.html

Fred ZL1BYP attended the annual AMSAT-UK Colloquium at Guildford in 2003. He brought with him a cardboard model of the KiwiSAT and his presentation on it was enthusiastically received by the audience. Since then Fred and the team of volunteers have been turning the dream into reality.

The 23rd AMSAT-UK Colloquium will be held at the University of Surrey, Guildford from Friday 25th until Sunday 27th July.

The Colloquium is open to all Radio Amateurs and SWL's. Either day passes or full packages comprising overnight accommodation and meals are available. An online booking service is available with PayPal, Visa and Master Card payments accepted.
