New Emergency Communications and Monitoring System Coordinators

IARU Region 2 (the Americas) has appointed new Emergency Communications and Monitoring System Coordinators.

New Emergency Communications Coordinator

Dr. César Pio Santos A., HR2P, has been named IARU Region 2 Emergency Communications Coordinator, EMCOR, substituting Rick Palm, K1CE.

Dr. Santos is a well know emergency expert in the region. He helped to provide emergency communications and medical relief in Honduras in the wake of Hurricane Mitch and remains active as a volunteer in his country governmental emergency communications institution and as ECAG (Emergency Communications Advisory Group) for the Area D, Central America, in IARU Region 2.

Dr. Santos, licensed in 1998 HR2CPS, has also participated in radio expeditions to various Honduran islands.

New R2 Monitoring System Coordinator

Juan Muñoz, TG9AJR, has been appointed as Region 2 Monitoring System Coordinator substituting Bill Zellers, WA4FKI (SK).

Juan started as a SWL in 1984 and obtained his current license en 1989. He is an active amateur on nearly all bands and modes. As an avid contester, Juan was a referee during WRTC-2002 in Helsinki, Finland.

He participated in the IARU Monitoring System with Martin Potter, VE3OAT, since 2001
