On
the Road with PW
Practical Wireless editor Rob Mannion G3XFD
always enjoys meeting readers of PW, and often tours the country visiting
amateur radio clubs throughout the United Kingdom.
On Thursday this week (3rd July) Rob will be the guest speaker at the Cray Valley Radio Society, which is located on the SE London/NW Kent borders.
Cray Valley Radio Society is very active in contesting, both national and international, HF to UHF. In recent years, it has achieved results at the top of the tables under its call signs: M8C and G3RCV.
Rob's evenings have a reputation for 'getting opinions out into the open' and this promises to be a lively evening with real audience participation, as well as hearing Rob's views on the hobby and its changes through the years - from PW's perspective!
This will be Rob's first time in the area and the possibility of their meeting being a crowded affair is a reality.
The Cray Valley Radio Society meets at 7.30pm for an 8pm start on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month. Refreshments are provided, the meeting site is a "No Smoking" venue.
The venue:
The Progress Halls, Admiral Seymour Road, Eltham, London, SE9 1SL.
(Near the Eltham Well Hall Roundabout)
Rob will be driving up to the club on Thursday afternoon, and returning to his QTH in Dorset the same evening, so listen-out for G3XFD/M on either 70 or 144MHz en-route.
