Russian Robinson Club announces DXpedition to Cleveland Volcano, AlaskaThe Russian Robinson Club is staging, together with American radio amateurs, an extreme DXpedition to Mt. Cleveland volcano located in the Aleutian chain in Alaska from July 21 to July 27, 2008. The idea behind Amateur Radio expeditions is to give amateur radio operators all over the world the chance to contact a very rare territory, a place where no one operated before. Mt. Cleveland is a 5,675 foot tall (1,730 meters) active stratovolcano on the west side of Chuginadak Island. Mt. Cleveland is almost perfectly symmetrical and 5 miles (8 km) wide at its base. It is also one of the most active volcanos in the Aleutians. The DXpedition is privately funded with donations from team members, manufacturers of communications equipment and Amateur Radio operators. Source: Radio Bulgaria’s DX Program
