CQ9U DXpedition

A new DXpedition is being planned to The Selvagens Islands (IOTA AF 047)

Jose Araujo CT1DSV writes:

GIRA - Group of Investigation of Radiocommunications and Environment, is now preparing a DXpedition to the most remote Portuguese Natural Reserve, The Selvagens Islands (IOTA AF 047).

As you can see in our website http://www.cq9u.com/en_default.html this particular Natural Reserve has only 2 inhabitants (the national park vigilants) and it is a location very requested for several radio awards (2 lighthouse references, the WFF - World Flora Fauna award, and particularly this year of 2008 the 500 Years of Madeira capital city award). For all these reasons, this is a unique oportunity to activate this island in a four days expedition.

As this we are a new DX team, we are sponsoring all the expedition costs from Portugal to Madeira and from Madeira to Selvagens Islands, flying from mainland and then with the Navy about 300 Kms carrying ALL equipment with us (including two generators and petrol for the 4 days os Dx because there is NO ELECTRICAL POWER in the island).

It would be very much appreciated if you could kindly help this DXpedition by sponsoring us.
