Worthing Club gets Lottery grant for VHF and UHF D-Star

The Worthing and District Amateur Radio Club has been awarded over £9,000 in lottery funding towards new radio equipment which will serve a large area of Sussex.

The club, which has more than 100 members, were successful in their application for lottery funding from Awards For All and have been awarded £9,019 for their project to install VHF and UHF DStar repeaters in Worthing.

The repeaters allow digital communication both locally and worldwide using radio and internet technology, and will be situated in the Worthing Borough Council buildings serving an extensive area along the Sussex Coast.

The funding will also be used to replace the club's current radio equipment with new state of the art transceivers, antennas, microphones and sundry equipment.

Meetings of the Worthing and District Amateur Radio Club are every Wednesday at 7.30pm for 8pm start at Lancing Parish Hall, South Street, Lancing.

Training for all levels of amateur radio is offered, and old and new members are always welcome.

The support and assistance of Worthing Borough Council on this project is gratefully acknowledged by the club.
