Ofcom WT (exemption) Regulations Consultation

On Wednesday the UK regulator Ofcom published proposals to amend the Wireless Telegraphy (exemption) Regulations to make more equipment licence exempt from the Wireless Telegraphy Act.

The equipment includes high-density fixed satellite applications in the 27.5-27.8185 GHz, 28.4545-28.8265 GHz and 29.4625-30 GHz bands.

Ofcom is also amending the current licence exemption for land mobile satellite services and, in line with guidance from the European Commission, intends to increase the power limit [from 10mw to 500mw] of a number of short range devices in the 169.4-169.8125 Mhz band

The consultation which closes on the 17 August 2008 can be found here http://www.ofcom.org.uk/consult/condocs/wtf_exp03/
