Hang about, FCC re-loads its BPL gun

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) of the United States has just issued a new proposed regulation for Broadband over Powerlines (BPL).

The FCC seemingly wants to continue championing the flawed technology by arguing that the technical standards it has may still be sufficient for BPL, albeit with modification.

In its Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (Amendment of Part 15 regarding new requirements and measurement guidelines for Access Broadband over Power Line Systems) the FCC is seeking comment on the power levels that should be permitted for Access BPL systems so they don’t cause interference with other services.

The IARU national radio society, the ARRL is yet to make known its response to the new proposal.
