Walter Kronkite, KB2GSD - SK

The well-known, former US TV news anchor Walter Cronkite has died after a long illness. He was 92.

Cronkite presented the evening news programme for CBS from 1962 to 1981, helping the programme to become the most watched bulletin in the US. He was known to millions of Americans as "the most trusted man in America".

However Walter, who famously ended every broadcast with the words "and that's the way it is", was also well-known within the amateur radio community, holding the callsign KB2GSD.

A few years ago, he used his exceptional broadcasting talents to present and narrate this excellent amateur radio promotional video, which was produced for the ARRL.

73 Walter - you will be greatly missed

...and that's the way it is.
