Successful ISS ham radio contact with ISU in Strasbourg

The International Space Station made a successful amateur radio contact on 145.800 FM with students at the International Space University near Strasbourg, France on July 21st. The contact lasted about ten minutes.

Students put questions to the ISS, and astronaut Shannon Walker, KD5DXB replied.

The ISS signal was also heard loud and clear during the entire pass in southern England, with an omni-directional discone antenna.

It's nice to report that the antennas, rotators, 150 foot coax cables and radio system that I planned, built and installed at the ISU in 2008, all performed well.
