July's Short Wave Magazine

The July issue of Short Wave Magazine has several interesting items.

Page 9 covers the success that CARS had in the Ofcom Digital TV Switchover Consultation and has a picture of EssexAmateurRadio list member Murray G6JYB who produced the CARS response. The early adoption of the 8K carrier system will be of great benefit to those areas of Essex served by the Sudbury transmitter.

Page 12 has a full page advert from the RSGB featuring their "Ofcom Grim Reaper" poster - "Licence for Life = Deregulation = Death". As it's in SWM, I presume the RSGB have bought advertising space in all the other radio mags as well.

In the Amateur Bands Column on Page 65 Clive Hardy comments on the fact that the UK Amateur population is now static and may be going into decline. He also invites Foundation holders to let him know their reasons for not upgrading to Intermediate.

Personally I think the lack of Intermediate Courses is a major factor, but it'll be interesting to see the replies he gets.

Finally on page 8 there's a picture of the FTDX-9000, I want one! and the IC-7000 which was launched at Dayton.
