Changes to fees paid for the issue of Operator Certificates

Changes to fees paid under the New Zealand Radiocommunications Regulations 2001 will begin to take effect from the 1st July 2005.

The changes include elimination of fees for the issue of Radio Operator Certificates of Competency. This means that no fees need to accompany the “Application for Certificate of Competency” (Form Radio 4) for certificates issued on or after the 1st of July 2005.

Further changes are planned for 2006 as RSM expands the capability of its new Spectrum Management and Registration Technology (SMART) system. This new facility will allow examiners to enter candidate details online enabling the immediate issue of an Operator’s Certificate and callsign if required.

Please note that the requirement to attach proof of identity remains. This can be a photocopy of a driver’s licence or passport certified by the examiner.
