Geoff Taylor, VK5TY - Silent Key

Geoff was a well-deserved life member of the WIA and will be sadly missed by many, both from within the hobby and generally.

Jim McLachlan, Vice President of the Adelaide Hills
Amateur Radio Society said: "While holidaying in England, our President Geoff Taylor passed away on Tuesday the 21st of June. He had decided to have a short nap in a chair after dinner following a busy day and died in his sleep.

"He was licensed as VK5ZCQ in the late 50's and then transferred to VK5TY in the early sixties.

"We will remember Geoff as a respected elder Statesman of The WIA in South Australia.

"He had carried out the duties of Federal Councillor for South Australia and President of the division, also as a Commissioner Scout Radio, Site coordinator for the refurbishing the Burly Griffin Building as the State Head Quarters of the SA Division, WICEN Director and in his spare
time ran an amateur radio school.

"It is easy to under stand from the above list why he was a life member of the WIA.

"Geoff is survived by his wife Christine VK5CTY, son Murray and Daughters Marion, Greta and Heather".
