WIA responds to ABA

The WIA is preparing a response to the Australian Broadcasting Authority paper on new radio bands for digital radio broadcasting.

"The ABA has identified the lower segment of VHF band one (45-52 MHz) as a candidate band for digital broadcasting" WIA Director Glenn Dunstan VK4DU has said.

"This would create significant problems for the international amateur 6 meter weak signal allocation at 50 - 50.3 MHz" Glenn said

"The WIA position on 50-52 MHz remains unchanged - that is, that the segment be granted primary amateur status after the closure of Television Channel 0".

The WIA response to the ABA paper will be available on the WIA web site shortly.
