Software Defined Radio – The Future is Digital !

On Tuesday 4th July at 7:30 pm the Chelmsford Amateur Radio Society will be hosting a presentation on Software Defined Radio (SDR).

It will be given by Murray Niman G6JYB and will provide a valuable opportunity to learn about this exciting new technology that is revolutionising Radio Communications.

SDR (essentially Digital Direct Conversion) is part of an exciting future that promises to sweep away large amounts of traditional analogue RF and IF circuitry, permits an amazing flexible variety of traditional and new radio radio modes, offers new possibilities for experimenters and cheap homebrew - and even offers more points for contesters!

Will it mean the end of the tuned circuit?  Come and See!

Several CARS members have already constructed SDR’s. One of them Duncan M0KGK, has written PC software to control an SDR which can be downloaded from his website at http://www.duncanamps.co.uk/amateur/
