Pat Hawker G3VA awarded the MBE

John Patrick Hawker, G3VA, has been awarded an MBE in the 2006 Birthday Honours list for 'Services to Radio Communications'

Pat Hawker, G3VA, is probably best known to Radio Amateurs through his "Technical Topics" column in RadCom. It is by far the most successful regular column in the history of the RSGB's journal.

Pat first started the column in 1958 and has written it ever since. It is a fascinating collection of circuit ideas, antenna lore, component news and scientific discussion, all at the most practical level.

Pat has been interested in the technical aspects of radio since the 1930's, both professionally and as a radio amateur. In that time he has contributed immensely to the advancement of our knowledge of Radio Communications and it is fitting that he should be awarded this honour.
