Progress 22 docks with the space station

The Progress 22 cargo spacecraft docked with the International Space Station on Monday at 12:25 p.m. EDT. The resupply ship is delivering propellant, oxygen, water and other cargo.

It will also act as a “closet” rather than a trash receptacle after unloading, providing additional stowage space for the station.

Flight Engineer Jeff Williams KD5TVQ and station Commander Pavel Vinogradov RV3BS continue preparing the station for Space Shuttle Discovery on mission STS-121.

The two crewmembers have checked out the robotic arm, serviced U.S. spacesuits and configured communication headsets.

The shuttle is set for launch July 1 at 3:49 p.m. EDT delivering a third crewmember for Expedition 13 - European Space Agency astronaut Thomas Reiter, DF4TR.

NASA astronauts Michael Lopez-Alegria and Sunita Williams and Russian cosmonaut Mikhail Tyurin have been named as the 14th crew of the International Space Station. Expedition 14 is scheduled to begin this fall.
