School Foundation licencees

Proof that amateur radio appeals to the young as much as the old, two 11-year-old pupils from the Hazlemere Church of England Primary School Radio Club are celebrating getting their amateur radio licences.

The two girls passed their Foundation radio examination in May and have now received their pass certificates and callsigns.

Debbie, M3NXL, and Silvia, M3NXM, are now looking forward to operating the school's club radios and getting some QSOs in their new log books.

The girls were prepared for the test by Peter Phelps, G6UDF, who is also their headteacher. He is a great believer that amateur radio can be used to support many aspects of the school curriculum and can still capture the interest of young people.

The school club was launched in 2004 following a visit by the GB4FUN amateur radio demonstration vehicle.
