South Africa's Youth Net 20 a huge success

Youth Net number 20 was an interesting transmission that was well controlled by young Stuart, ZR6DBZ, and the rest of the Youth Net team.

Topics covered included an interesting recording by Johan, ZS1I on HSMM. A review of VHF Ducting by Andries, ZS6VL, and an insightful insert by Eddie, ZS6BNE, titled "The Modern Youth & Amateur Radio" as well as other inserts by 10 year old Elandre, ZS4TU, and Stuart, ZR6DBZ.

54 unique call signs were logged including 5 people who were listening and sent in SMS messages to register in the log book. All 6 divisions were logged as well as A25LR from Gaborone in Botswana.

Newly qualified callers Natasha, ZR6DFC, and Mossie, ZR1I, made their debuts on the Youth Net on the same day that they received their RAE results - congratulations.

A draw was held from the callers list, which included the SMS logs, for two Software Defined Radio receivers. Braam, ZS6AYE, and Derek, ZR6DR, won the SoftRock 40 Version 6 kits.

More of these radio receivers are up for grabs over the coming weeks, so stay tuned to the Youth Net every Thursday evening at 18:00 CAT on 3 650 kHz.
