Sun goes longer than normal without producing sunspots

An International Solar Conference was held at Montana State University from 1st to 6th June.

About 100 scientists from around the world attended the conference to talk about "Solar Variability, Earth's Climate and the Space Environment."

An article on the event by the Montana State Univeristy news service says: "scientists said periods of inactivity are normal for the sun, but this period has gone on longer than usual."
