Bay Museum on the Air 2010The weekend of June 19-20 was Museums on the Air and a video of the South Essex Amateur Radio Society operating from the Bay Museum is now on YouTube The Bay Museum is the old de-Gaussing building on Canvey Island. Many British ships had been fitted with a special secret device that rendered them immune from damage from magnetic mines.To ensure that this 'special device' was operating properly monitoring stations were established around the coast line. The Bay Museum was one of those stations, known locally as the 'Canvey Loop'. It also has some on the Engine parts from the two B17s that collided over Canvey point during WW2 . Watch Bay Museum on the Air 2010 SEARS meet on the 2nd Wednesday of each month in the South Benfleet Primary School, High Road, South Benfleet, Essex, SS7 5HA. If you are interested in Amateur Radio, Computing, Electronics, etc, then just come along, You will be made most welcome. No entry fees. Tea & Coffee is free. Why not bring a friend along?
