Dame Nellie Melba Anniversary

Following the successful demonstration station at Oaklands museum on Saturday the Chelmsford Amateur Radio Society (CARS) will be operating GB90MZX from central Chelmsford on Tuesday June 15.

The station will be set up a few hundred yards from where Dame Nellie Melba made her historic broadcast from the Marconi New Street station MZX on June 15, 1920.

GB90MZX will be active during the day on the HF bands using SSB.

For the Oaklands station on Saturday CARS members made use of 1920's style handheld microphones.
