Leicester University CubeSat PLUME

The Amateur Radio CubeSat PLUME is being built by students at Leicester University in the UK and their work is documented on a Wiki site.

The University of Leicester's CubeSat project, named PLUME (Picosatellite of Leicester University Micrometeoroid Experiment), started in January 2007 and aims to place an active nano-meteoroid dust detector into orbit.
This detector will be capable of characterising the near Earth dust environment an order of magnitude better than any previously flown active detector, allowing significant science to be accomplished.

The satellite will uplink and downlink in the satellite segment of the UHF amateur radio frequency band of around 435 MHz (TBC). Telemetry downlink will be provided by a 4800/2400bps PIC modem, using FSK modulation (either FFSK or GMSK), using the amateur standard AX.25 protocol. The system will be able to transmit 350kB in a 10 min overhead window with the 4800bps modem.
