Radio wars between North and South KoreaMike Barraclough has spotted two YouTube videos that highlight the use of radio in the war of words between North and South Korea. The first by Martyn Williams, IDG News Service, is an 8 minute report that includes interview with Open Radio For North Korea, a North Korean defector, a look at jamming and a report on activists sending helium balloons with money, leaflets, DVD's and radio's over the border:
In the second the English service of the Voice of Korea, the DPRK's international broadcasting service, broadcasts a statement in response to a South Korean investigation into the sinking of the warship Cheonan. In the statement, the DPRK threatens "all out war" if the south retaliates. The transmission, on 3560kHz, was monitored at 1500UTC on May 20 in Tokyo.
