Tombelaine Island DXpedition

In 'Informatief' issue nr 2010-05 from February 5, we announced the IOTA adventure planned by Francois ON4LO and Kurt, ON4CB.

Problems with the French authorities prevented the planned adventure taking place in the period forseen (23/07 - 25/07).

All arrangements have now been finalised.
The IOTA adventure to Tombelaine Island will now take place between the 12th and 14th of August and has the call-sign F/OR9W/P.

Tombelaine Island has the following references: EU-156 and DIFM MAO21, locator IN89fp.

Tombelaine, an uninhabited island made of granite, lies on the right bank of the Sée channel in Mont-Saint-Michel bay. The bay is located a few kilometres north of Mont-Saint-Michel.

The properties of the bay with its' heavy lime deposits, allow travellers to walk to the island at low tide without fear of wet feet.

The island is situated north-east of Cotentin, about 3.5 kilometres from shore. The geographic co-ordinates of Tombelaine Island are: 48°29'36" N - 01°30'46" W
