Sunday 40 metre activity

Following the promulgation of the new regulations and the increased use of the HF Bands in South Africa, the SARL would like to inform and remind users of the 40 metre band of a "gentlemen's agreement" made many years ago.

This agreement goes about the use of the 40 metre band on Sundays. Many years ago the SARL co-ordinated the frequencies and times for the broadcasting of branch bulletins, this to prevent clashes and interference.

The decision was taken to have 4 kHz spacing between the frequencies and the following frequencies were selected: 7082, 7078, 7074, 7070, 7066, 7062 kHz and possibly others higher and lower. This agreement has not been changed.

Users of the 40 metre band on Sunday mornings are requested to ensure that they are not causing interference to the recognised bulletin frequencies and where possible select a frequency for a rag chew away from the bulletin frequencies.
